Cold treatments have been used in Europe for more than 20 years to treat autoimmune diseases and long-term illnesses. An ice bath also helps relieve pain.
It is possible to get relief from chronic diseases, such as fibromyalgia (a long-lasting pain condition), rheumatoid arthritis, dementia and cardiovascular diseases, from ice baths. An ice bath affects the blood vessels, tightening them, which reduces inflammation and associated pain. Cold also affects nerve cells, preventing them from sending pain signals forward.
